With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Geraldine “Gerrie” Mae Adams, who left us on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at the age of 90. Gerrie was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of many.
Born on January 17, 1934, in Minneapolis to Harold and Glola (Sumner) Wreath, Gerrie graduated from Mount Ayr High School. She dedicated her early years to raising her family and later pursued a successful career as a realtor with Iowa Realty, retiring in her 80s. Gerrie was deeply devoted to her church and her family, and her compassionate nature made her well-loved by all who knew her.
Gerrie is survived by her children, Mark (Janis), Marlo (Jennifer), and Jodena (Scott) Conrad; her grandchildren, Angela (Caleb), Mark (Kristi), Mason, Madison, Samuel, Shana (Dean), Beki (Austin), Shane (Lizzie), and Amie (Cody); and her great-grandchildren, Zack, Phoenix, Zion, Scarlette, MJ, Drew, James, Jason, Gabby, Calie, Aiden, Emeline, Ainsley, Berkley, Henley, Dailey, and Collins. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, August 12, 2024, at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel in West Des Moines. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 2317 Watrous Ave, Des Moines, IA 50321, followed by burial at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Childserve in Johnston, reflecting Gerrie’s lifelong commitment to caring for others.
Gerrie’s legacy of love, faith, and dedication will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends. May she rest in eternal peace.
