Gerry Hoye, 80, passed away Saturday, December 18, 2010, at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell, Iowa. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial at Resthaven Cemetery.

Gerry was born in North Liberty, Iowa, the daughter of Herbert and Geraldine Owen. She was a graduate of St. Patrick’s High School in Iowa City and was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Gerry moved to West Des Moines in 1956, where she spent most of her life. She worked for several years at Northwestern Bell Telephone before joining Answer Iowa in Des Moines, where she was named “manager of the year” numerous times. Gerry was a member of Mercy Hospital Guild and Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was an avid reader, loved doing crossword puzzles and traveling. She was a lifelong Notre Dame and Iowa football fan. She loved playing cards at family get-togethers (especially at Christmas, which was her favorite time of year.)

Gerry is survived by three sons, Pat (Dianna) of Ankeny, Bill (Kitty) of South Bend, IN and Mike (Mary) of Kansas; seven grandchildren, Jeremy, Jon, Jessica, David, Katie, Charlie and George.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at McLaren’s Chapel with a rosary service at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to a public library of your choice.
