Glenn was born to George and Gertrude Uding on November 4, 1926, in St. Genevieve, Missouri. Glenn graduated high school in Decherd, Tennessee. Prior to attending St. Louis University, at the age of 17, Glenn joined the U.S. Navy on February 4, 1944, with most of his service time spent in the South Pacific.
Glenn was employed for 44 years with Allied Mills/Continental Grain from 1947 to 1991, attaining the rank of Vice President. During his work years, he and his family lived in St. Louis, Missouri, Omaha, Nebraska, Mason City, Iowa, Chicago, Illinois, and Des Moines, Iowa areas.
Glenn was preceded in death by his first wife, Gloria Matrisotto Uding and his parents. In 1979 he married Millie Uding, and together they combined their five children; Stephen (Jan) of Winterset, Cynthia of West Des Moines, Jeffrey (Shelli) of Mission Viejo, CA, Michael of Grimes, and Diana (Mike) of Winterset as their family unit. Their future grew to include 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, George Jr., and Kathy.
Glenn enjoyed traveling during his work years, and after Millie joined his family, they continued to travel for work and leisure including several long trips annually. These trips produced many memories and laughter. When not traveling after Glenn retired, he spent many hours volunteering at Methodist Hospital, his church, and SCORE (Senior Corp of Retired Executives).
