John O. Lewis, 95, passed away Friday, June 2, 2017 at University Park Care Center in Des Moines. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at 2 p.m. at the Resthaven Cemetery Mausoleum in West Des Moines.
John was born August 4, 1921 on the farm in Washington Courthouse (Columbus), Ohio to Ossie and Alta (Lutz) Lewis. He joined the Army in January 1941 where he served as a military policeman during WWII until his honorable discharged in 1945. His passion was repairing and building motorcycles.
John is survived by his wife, Yvonne; son, Jean Lewis and daughter, Julie (Chris) Bartlett. He was preceded in death by his parents.
