LeRoy “Tom” Thomas Reed, age 78, of West Des Moines passed away at home surrounded by family and friends on October 9, 2025. A Memorial Service will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday October 27, 2025, at McLaren’s Chapel 801 19th street, West Des Moines, Iowa. Inurnment will immediately follow the service at Resthaven Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Des Moines Animal Rescue League.
LeRoy Thomas Reed was born on June 6, 1947, in Cedar Rapids to Walter and Valorous (Carpenter) Reed. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1965.
He worked for many years at Wellmark BlueCross/BlueShield in the print shop. He was a Mason and very proud of his accomplishments. He married the love of his life Sheila Livis on September 9, 1994. Wherever you see Sheila, you see Tom.
He loved his family and many friends. Tom took pride in his landscaping and kept his yard well-manicured. If you were lucky enough to be a friend to Tom, you had a true Friend. He enjoyed playing the guitar.
His memory lives on through his two sons: Dan (Ronda) and Gary (Melea), Grandchildren Chris and Jennifer; Special Friend Kathy Diaz and her two sons: Dennis (DJ) Brown (his daughter Devenny) and Joseph Diaz (his daughter Lydia) who have many cherished memories of Tom and will miss him greatly.
