Linda (Carnes) Pioch, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away surrounded by family on December 10, 2025. A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 13, 2025 at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel in West Des Moines followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery.
Linda was born on June 29, 1951, and grew up in St. Joseph, Missouri alongside her twin brother, Larry (Joyce) Carnes. She is also lovingly remembered by her sister Dee Anna (Bob) Hewins of Lenexa, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her doting parents, Merle and Betty Carnes, whom she remembered with deep affection throughout her life.
A proud graduate of Central High School’s Class of 1969, Linda married the love of her life, James Pioch, on June 10, 1972. Together, they built a family and raised three children that became her greatest joy; Kimberly (Bill) Dampier, Amy (Brian) Eddy, and Scott (Meghan) Collins.
Linda’s legacy extended over the years to include nine grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy: Jackson Dampier, Emily Dampier, Carter Dampier, Sarah Dampier, Hank Eddy, Jaylen Collins, Duke Collins, Pearl Collins, and Jax Collins.
Linda was a dedicated mother who stayed home with her children during their early years. When she returned to the workforce, she found a calling in credit union service. She managed the Hillyards Employees Credit Union and later the Heartland Hospital Credit Union in St. Joseph, Missouri. After moving to St. Louis, she continued her career by managing the Proctor and Gamble Credit Union. Her professional journey later brought her to Urbandale, Iowa, where she served as manager of the Polk County Schools Employees Credit Union from the 1990s until her retirement in 2016. Linda was known for her integrity, warmth, and commitment to every member she served.
Linda’s faith was an anchor for her throughout her life. She was a devoted Catholic and a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in St. Joseph, St. Pius in Urbandale, and St. Boniface Catholic Church in Waukee. Linda was also deeply involved in her communities—serving as president of the Pony Express Girl Scout Council, president of the Noyes School PTA, a member of the Pony Express Historical Association in St. Joseph, and an active member of the Urbandale Chamber of Commerce.
In retirement, Linda treasured spending time with her friends and family. She enjoyed traveling, cheering on her grandchildren at their many activities, and was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan. She loved gathering with the Timberline Cottages women’s group for luncheons and social events. Her kindness, good humor, and generosity touched countless lives.
Linda’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and courage. She always had a smile, always an uplifting word, and always room in her heart for others. She was resilient and always stood up for what she believed. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
