

Louise Laline Pruitt, 90, was born on October 29, 1925 in Des Moines, Iowa to Melvin and Gertrude Murray. She departed this life on May 3, 2016 at Summit Medical Center, Oakland, CA. She was educated in the Des Moines School system and was a resident of Des Moines for 77 years before moving to live with her daughter in Oakland, CA. On June 23, 1965 she was united in holy matrimony to Floyd Pruitt. They were blessed to raise five children: Lerna, James “Jimmy”, Robert “Bobby”, Beverly and RoseMary. Louise was employed by the State of Iowa as a housekeeper. She started her career at the Federal Building and retired from the Governor’s Mansion with sitting Governor Robert D. Ray. Louise enjoyed knitting, garage sales, wallpapering and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Gertrude Murray; husband, Floyd; two sons, Robert Jones, James “Jimmy” Sheley; seven brothers, Melvin Jr., Arthur, James Anthony, Edgar, Robert Dale, Sr. and Gerald “Jerry” Murray, two sisters, Juanita and Debra Murray. Louise will be deeply missed by her daughters, Lerna Sheley, Beverly Pruitt, and RoseMary Calderon; seventeen grandchildren; over twenty-five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jackie Murray of Des Moines and Larry Murray of Waterloo; four sisters, Helen Oakley of Arizona, Mary Jo Murray of Des Moines, Paula Clayborne and Connie Ivy of Bakersfield, CA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends and acquaintances.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at McLaren’s Chapel in West Des Moines with a graveside service to follow at Resthaven Cemetery.
