Our beloved Aunt Madeline “Maggie” Rocha, age 98, died peacefully on June 6, 2023, surrounded by her family. Aunt Maggie was born to Rosalio and Prisca Lopez Rocha in Valley Junction, Iowa. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, June 12th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in West Des Moines. A visitation will start at 10 a.m. followed by Mass at 11 a.m. A burial will take place at the Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines.
Aunt Maggie was a graduate of Valley High School. After graduation, she was employed as a welder at the former Solar Manufacturing Company until she retired to care for her aging parents. Aunt Maggie prided herself on keeping her home for her two sisters, Ramona and Lena.
Although Aunt Maggie did not have children of her own, she had a special relationship with each of her nieces and nephews. She was our biggest cheerleader. We sought her advice and counsel through good and tough times.
Aunt Maggie loved the sunshine and we find comfort that knowing all of her days moving forward are filled with eternal sunshine. She read the newspaper from front to back. She could hold a conversation about politics, sports, world affairs, or whatever was on your mind that day.
Aunt Maggie was grateful for many years of good health. Over the last 8 months, she was blessed with loving, genuine, and professional care from the staff at Scottish Rite Park Health Care Center.
She is survived by her sister, Lena Rocha. She was proceeded in death by her parents, brothers; Gilbert, George, Bill, and John. Sisters; Luz and Ramona.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1627 Grand Ave, West Des Moines, IA.
