Margaret “Mugs” Brunk, 94, passed away Friday, April 26, 2013 at Fountain West Health Center. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in West Des Moines with burial at Resthaven Cemetery.
Mugs was born December 16, 1918 in Centerville, Iowa. She was a devoted wife, mom and grandmother. Mugs retired from the Commission for the Blind and was a member of Sacred Heart Church. She enjoyed traveling to Texas in the winter, crafts, fishing and spending time with family and friends.
Mugs is survived by her husband of 76 years, Sam Brunk of West Des Moines; sister, Rose Stephens of Centerville; son, Gary (Patty) Brunk, Sr. of West Des Moines; daughter, Judy (Brenda Beardsley) Brunk of West Des Moines; grandsons, Matt (Terri) Brunk and Gary (Carrie) Brunk, Jr. both of Des Moines and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and Owen McConville; brothers, Owen and Don McConville and sisters, Kay Cortesio, Mary Ellen Cox and Betty Hiatt.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at McLaren’s Chapel. Memorial contributions may be directed to Iowa Hospice.
