Margie Dooley, 76, passed away January 16, 2014 of complications due to Alzheimer’s. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, January 18, 2014 at McLaren’s Chapel in West Des Moines with burial at Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Margie was born May 1, 1937 to Lawrence and Goldie Short in Redfield, IA and graduated from Valley High School in 1955. She was a member of the Valley High Jump Roping Team.
Margie and Dale were married on September 21, 1963 and lived in the Des Moines area most of their married life with 35 years at Lake Panorama in Panora. Margie enjoyed golfing, crossword puzzles, reading, fishing, bowling, playing cards and spending time with her family and grandchildren. For many years, Margie was a member of the Young Adults Club at Luther Memorial Church in Des Moines.
She is survived by her husband, Dale; three sons, Kelly (Deborah) of Urbandale, Terry (Jennie) of West Des Moines and Todd (Katlen) of Urbandale; six grandchildren, Lucas, Adam, Nicolle, Jared, Michael and Gabriella Dooley; brother, Jack (Sandra) Short of Warrensburg, MO; sister, Patty Jo Murphy of Sioux City; aunt, Fannie Hoff of Ankeny and cousins, Bev Musselman of West Des Moines and Larry Musselman of Waukee. Margie was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Greater Iowa Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
