Marilyn Mae (Brower) Porepp was born February 19, 1931, in Moville, Iowa to Chester and Edna (Claussen) Brower. She graduated from Moville High School in 1948 and enrolled in Wayne State Teachers College. Her college days ended when she met the love of her life, Paul William Porepp. They were married on September 22, 1950, in Sioux City, Iowa and would spend the next 47 years completely devoted to each other and the family they created. Upon retirement, they enjoyed travel and wintering in Arizona. They gave freely of their time for many years while serving others as volunteers at Iowa Lutheran Hospital. When Paul died suddenly in 1998, it hit Marilyn hard. But her love of family was immense. It carried her through. She thoroughly enjoyed her final years, playing a huge role in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Marilyn had so much love to give, and in turn she was beloved by all. Today she resides in Heaven and in the hearts of those who will miss her.
Marilyn’s family wishes to thank the caregivers at Cedar Ridge Village and Hospice of the Midwest for their compassionate attention.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sister, Marlene (Frank) Baker of Mansfield, Texas. Children David (Catherine) Porepp of Clive, Randy (Sue) Porepp of Grimes, and Julie (Brian) Ellingson of West Des Moines. Grandchildren Joe (Jenny) Porepp of Pleasant Hill, Mathew (Tyann) Porepp of Tiffin, Lindsay (Chad) Hepperly of Waukee, Katelyn (Ben) Steinberg of Albion, and Ben (Alexis) Porepp of Altoona.
