Marvin K. (Marv) Faust, 83, passed away Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Wesley Acres. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at McLaren’s Chapel with burial at Resthaven Cemetery.
Marv was born in Eldora, IA, the oldest and only son of Carl and Esther Faust. He was a graduate of Westmar College in LeMars, IA, where he played varsity baseball and basketball. He lived in Hubbard, IA, his entire life and farmed for 42 years before moving to Des Moines in 1995.
Marv was state president of the Evangelical United Brethren Men’s Organization and was a member of the Hubbard COOP Board. He was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan. Marv was a courageous role model and caring husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Marv is survived by his wife, Ruth; three sons, David (Trisha) of Omaha, NE, Michael (Lana) of Mason City, IA, and James of West Des Moines; three daughters, Dorothy Faust of Ames, IA, Mary Jo (Todd) Danielson of St. Paul, MN, and Penelope Winter of Des Moines; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Georgia Miller of Hubbard, IA, and Beverly Dagit of Alden, IA.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at McLaren’s Chapel. Memorial contributions may be given to the Marvin K. Faust Scholarship Fund.
