Maxigene (Tierney) Duesenberg, 88, of Des Moines, IA passed into the care of her Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at the University of Iowa Medical Center. She was surrounded by her five children as they all prayed the Lord’s Prayer.
Maxigene was born June 29, 1933 in Clear Lake, IA to Bonnie Laurine (Whitney) Tierney. Her father Max Hamlin Tierney, died before she was born. When her mother passed before she reached the age of 2, Maxigene went to live with her grandmother, Ruth Green Whitney. She graduated from Clear Lake High School and kept close friendships from those years throughout her life. Maxigene married Arlen Wayne Duesenberg of Clear Lake on June 6, 1954. They had five children and also welcomed into the family three Vietnamese sibling refugees in the 70’s. Maxigene and Arlen lived in Ames, IA, Clear Lake, IA, Des Moines, IA, Earlham, IA and Hot Springs Village, AR.
Maxigene is survived by her five children, Timothy (Leslie) of Onalaska, WI, Kenneth (Kathie) of Central City, IA, Bonnie Bales (Andrew) of Pasadena, CA, Marjorie Scholten (Art) of Runnells, IA, and Edgar (Virginia) of Bartlesville, OK; 21 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren. She is also survived by Philip Ho, T. X. Ho, and Anthony Ho; and two sisters-in-law, Eunice Duesenberg and Jane Pedelty.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Arlen; parents, Max and Bonnie Tierney; and brothers-in-law, Holmes Pedelty and Richard Duesenberg.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, March 17, 2022 at St. Augustin Catholic Church with visitation from 10 a.m. until service time. Entombment will be at Resthaven Mausoleum.
