

Patricia Ann Sayles, 83, passed away suddenly on February 12, 2010 in Maui, Hawaii while on vacation. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Friday, February 26, 2010 at McLaren’s Chapel, 801 - 19th Street in West Des Moines with burial at Glendale Cemetery.
Patricia was born October 20, 1926 in Des Moines, Iowa. She started her family in Des Moines and later moved to West Des Moines to raise her family. Patricia had lived in Panora for twenty years. She worked for the FBI during WWll in Washington, DC and was a wonderful homemaker married to Floyd after the war. She married Floyd L. Sayles on April 26, 1946 at the Basilica of St. Johns Catholic Church in Des Moines.
Patricia was a past member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she was active with the Bridge Guild. She had a passionate relationship with Christ. Patricia was an active member at Faith Bible Church in Panora and the Lake Panorama Women’s Golf League. She was active in the women’s club, bible study and the children’s ministries, vacation and bible school year round. Patricia loved her grandchildren, family visiting, family reunions and holidays. She loved playing bridge with her closest girlfriends, sewing, boating, the outdoors and fishing in Canada.
Patricia is lovingly missed and survived by her husband of 63 years, Floyd L. Sayles of Panora; five children, William Sayles and wife Lorena of Lahaina, Hawaii, Richard Sayles and wife Kit of Bluegrass, Iowa, Cynthia Friedman and husband Dr. Michael of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, James Sayles of Adel, and Sheryl Begolka and husband Larry of West Des Moines; eleven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister and her husband Marilyn and Paul James of Des Moines and brother Arvid Bloomburg, Jr. of Des Moines.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Edna and Arvid Bloomburg, Sr.; her sister and her husband Virginia and Kenneth Powell and her sister-in-law Nellouise Bloomburg.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm Thursday at McLaren’s Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Association, International Red Cross or charity of your choosing.
