Richard L Conner

Rich had been a Clive Fireman and West Des Moines Police Officer for 22 years. He worked for the State of Iowa DOT teaching officers about computers for 10 years. He also worked for Drive with Cops, a program that teaches students to drive for 13 years.

Rich was a member of Lutheran Church of Hope where he participated for many years as an Alpha Host. He loved Country music dancing and danced for many years with Keepin’ It Country Dance Group.

Rich is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn; daughter, Megan (Brett) Phillips of Grimes, IA; son, John (Claudia) Conner of Raymore, KS; sister, Sharon (Mike) Juniper of Lancaster, OH; brother, Jeff Conner of Cape Coral, FL; and 4 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Thelma Conner; brother, Mike Conner; and granddaughter, Kylie Phillips.

A visitation for Richard will be held Wednesday, April 23, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at McLaren's Resthaven Chapel & Mortuary & Resthaven Cemetery, 801 19th St, West Des Moines, IA 50265. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, April 23, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, 801 19th St, West Des Moines, IA 50265. A graveside will occur Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Resthaven Cemetery, 801 19th Street, West Des Moines, IA 50265.

Memorial contributions may be dedicated to Lutheran Church of Hope or to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa on behalf of Richard "Rich" Conner.
