Robert Preston Rhiner, 76, entered into eternal life on February 2, 2014 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at McLaren’s Chapel in West Des Moines with burial at Resthaven Cemetery. A visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Robert was born November 13, 1937 in West Des Moines to Grover Welcome and Bonnie Rose (Fox) Rhiner. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Rhiner Brother’s Plumbing for 33 years. Robert enjoyed competitive card games, playing pool and boating. Most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren and the rest of his family.
He is survived by his children, Cindy Rhiner Kane, Lindie Rhiner Stivers, Doug (Crystal) Rhiner, Dawn (Clark) Dudley, Liane Rhiner and Travis (Sarah) Rhiner; stepson, Donnie Oakes; grandchildren, Eddie (April) Kane, Samantha (Denny) Kane-Tibbitts, Jimmy Sams, Sandy Nelson, Ashley Lawnsdail (David Melling), Kayla Lawnsdail, Alissa Stivers, Tiffany Satterfield, Steven (Lisa), Jasmine and Tiana Kaphingst, Clint, Alan and Megan Davis; 16 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by seven brothers and three sisters.
Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation.
