Ruth L. Barnes, 90, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Valley United Methodist Church in West Des Moines with a funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will take place at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines.
Ruth was born December 4, 1925 in Tama, IA to Arthur and Stella (Eaton) Fulton. Throughout the years, Ruth and Murwin owned eight retail businesses in three states. She was a member of Valley United Methodist Church and enjoyed needlework and spending time with her family.
Ruth is survived by her husband of 62 years, Murwin “Bud” Barnes of Clive; three children, Bruce (Judy) Barnes of Cedar Rapids, Sheila (Paul) Scavo of West Des Moines and Barry Barnes of Santa Paula, CA; four grandchildren, Sara (Bob) Meisterling, Brett (Heather) Barnes, Scott (Maria) Scavo and Amanda Scavo; and two great-grandchildren, Lincoln Meisterling and Mia Scavo. She was preceded in death by her parents and four older siblings.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Valley United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
