Sandra was born on February 23, 1937, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Karl A. and Esther J. Johnson. She graduated from East High School in 1955 and was united in marriage to Donald Hancock on June 23, 1957, in Des Moines, Iowa. Sandra worked at Equitable Life, Shaver Manufacturing, and Younkers.
Sandra was a devoted wife and mother. At the age of 55, Sandra donated her kidney to the love of her life Donald Hancock. Sandra loved her Swedish heritage and her Iowa Hawkeyes. She enjoyed going camping, traveling, and fishing in her retirement. Sandra also enjoyed having drinks with friends on the deck and going to the Casino. She was a Hawkeye fan on Saturday and Sunday; she was a big Chicago Bears fan.
Sandra is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; sister, Mary Lieurance; sister, Eleanor Vanderhaar; and brothers, Einar and Donald Johnson. Survivors include her son, Alan Hancock, and wife, Lorie, of Norwalk, Iowa; daughter, Lisa Hancock of Maxwell, Iowa; 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
