Steve Rodish, 68, passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at Bright Kavanagh House in Des Moines.

Steve was born on June 16, 1943 to Andrew and Mary Frances Rodish and was raised in Valley Junction. Throughout his life he held many jobs, among those included are: public works for the city of West Des Moines, Des Moines General Hospital and owning his own handyman business. He served in the U.S. Navy and on April 26, 1968 he was united in marriage to Judy Hawxby.

Steve volunteered for the West Des Moines Fire Department, West Des Moines Girls Softball and Hospice of Central Iowa.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Judy; daughter, Tammy (Marlin) Mahr; son, David Rodish; grandchildren, Marshall, Marty and Markayla Mahr, Trevor Rodish, Samantha (Adam) Redd and Shelby Rodish; great-granddaughter, Claire Redd; sisters, Brenda (Chuck) Host, Sharon (Ronn) Gathercole, Linda Rodish and Joyce Hunter; brothers, John (Sandi), Dan (Dawn), Dennis(Carolyn) and Dino(Sherry) Rodish; sister-in-law, Sharon Rodish and several nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Steven Lee Rodish.

Visitation will be from 12 noon until 2 p.m. Saturday at McLaren’s. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at McLaren’s Chapel with burial at Resthaven Cemetery.
