Susan (Sue) Bonanno, 61, died unexpectedly on Friday, July 27, 2012 at her home. Graveside services will be held 10 a.m., Tuesday at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines.
Sue was born in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Dale and Charlotte Spencer. Her father was a prominent Des Moines attorney. She grew up in Des Moines and was a graduate of Roosevelt High School. Sue lived for 20 years in Cresskill, New Jersey, where she worked with the Tenafly School System and the Dance Plus Dance Studio. She moved to Norwalk, Iowa in 2005. Wherever Sue lived she loved to be involved in a wide variety of youth and civic activities.
Sue is survived by her husband, Bob; daughter, Anna Rose of Clearwater, Florida; two sons, Michael (Theresa) Rose of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Jonathan (Ellen) Rose of Bloomington, Indiana; five grandchildren, Sophia, Emily, Erica, Alex and Madeline; and two brothers, Joseph (Donna) Spencer and John Spencer. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Thomas and Daniel Spencer.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday at McLaren’s Chapel. Memorials may be directed to Sue’s family.
