Bertha A. Taylor

peacefully on Saturday, November 9, 2013.

Born on May 16, 1942 in North Hartland, VT, she was the daughter of

the late Harold C. and Althea E. (Odette) Allen.

She attended high school in Millis, MA and continued her education at

Cape Cod Community College where she received her training as a

Certified Nurse’s Aide.

On May 2, 1965, she married the love of her life, Charles W. Taylor,

Jr., and they shared 48 happy years together. Bertha and Charlie were

longtime residents of Wellfleet and members of the United Methodist

Church.

For many years, Bertha worked in the tourist industry. She could

always be found walking or kayaking to work in the summer. She also

worked in the kitchen at the Wellfleet Elementary School, where she

was lovingly known as the “Cookie Lady”. After completing her Nurse’s

Aide training, she went on to work for Orleans Nursing Home and as a

Home Health Aide for the Visiting Nurse Association.

She leaves behind her loving husband, Charles W. Taylor, Jr. of

Dennisport; her daughter, Lisa Ann Taylor of Wallingford, CT; her son,

Charles W. Taylor, III and his wife, Marilynn of Los Angeles, CA; her

grandchildren, Nicholas Cruz, Amber Cruz, Logen Taylor; her sisters,

Billijean Wood and her husband, Bud of Jonesborough and Carolin

(Keeta) and her husband, Bill Alexander of Dorchester, MA.

A service will be held at the convenience of her family in the spring.

Visiting Nurse Association of Cape Cod, 434 Route 134, South Dennis,

MA 02660 or the Town of Dennis Police and Fire Departments.
