Follen, Donald Owens, 88, of East Dennis, formerly of Milton, passed away on August 3, 2016. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 60 years, Bernice “Bunny” Follen. Donald was raised in Dorchester by Francis and Marion Follen; after graduating from high school, Donald went on to proudly support his country by joining the Navy learning honor and integrity. After being discharged from the Navy, Donald perused his Bachelor’s Degree in accounting from Boston College and enjoyed a 35 year career at Polaroid Corporation and was involved with the Board of Directors of the Credit Union and raising a bustling family. When Donald was ready to retire in 1988, he and Bunny took their leave of the main land and found themselves a home in East Dennis; Donald was on the Board of Directors Polaroid Retirement Association, enjoyed volunteering his time at the Spaulding Stroke Association, was an active usher and gave his time to the food pantry at his parish, Holy Trinity Church. In his spare time, Donald loved to be out on the water; boating and fishing and spending time with family and friends; and because of his time at Polaroid, he also became an avid photographer.
In addition to his wife, Donald leaves his sons: Stephen Follen of Westwood and Edward and his wife Lisa Follen of Hingham as well as his four grandsons: Christopher and his wife Katie, Michael, Matthew, and Hunter. Donald will also be missed by his brother-in-law Paul Girouard. Donald was predeceased by his siblings: Marjorie Girouard and William Follen.
