Geraldine "Gerri" Handler Glidden

HARWICHPORT- Geraldine “Gerri” Handler Glidden, 81, of Harwichport passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, July 23, 2023 surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of Charles H. Glidden with whom she shared 52 years of marriage.

Born in Hyannis on August 22, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Louis Peter and Mollie Ida (Foster) Handler. Gerri was raised and educated in Harwich, and was a graduate of the Class of 1959. She went on to attend the University of Miami where she graduated in 1963 with a Bachelor’s Degree.

Gerri taught High School in Coral Park, FL for eight years before returning to Harwich to work for her family’s business. She was an integral part of Handler’s Auto Parts for over 30 years.

In her younger years, Gerri liked water skiing. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, particularly by the ocean. Gerri loved all animals from wildlife to cats and dogs. Above all, her most cherished time was spent surrounded by family.

Gerri is survived and will be deeply missed by her husband, Charles H. Glidden of Harwichport; her sons, Brian Glidden of Provincetown, and Darren Glidden of Harwichport; a sister, Janice Jones-Henry of Centerville; and a brother, Robert Handler and his wife Hannah of Harwich; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Gerri was predeceased by her brother in law, Arthur “Buff” Jones-Henry.
