

Born on October 11, 1927 in Sugar Creek, PA, he was the son of the late Ruben T. Palmer III and Eleanor (Fleming) Palmer. He grew up in Rhode Island and Connecticut.
On September 2, 1979, he married Mary Ringie at the First Congregational Church in Harwich.
He attended Rumsey Hall and graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, NH in 1945. In 1949, he graduated from Yale University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science.
After graduating from college, Joseph accepted a job in advertising sales at Architectural Record in New York and later transferred to Cleveland, OH. After leaving Architectural Record, he moved on to Boston, MA, where he accepted a job at Yankee Magazine. He went on to work as Regional Manager for Electronic Sourcebook until his retirement in the early 1990’s.
Joseph had a love for golf and he continually worked on perfecting his game. He was an avid reader and writer. In his earlier years, he authored a book focusing on the proper etiquette for golf caddys entitled “Caddycism”. He enjoyed playing poker and trips to Foxwood Casino. Most of all, he cherished the moments that he shared with his family.
Survivors include his loving wife of 32 years, Mary (Ringie) Palmer; his son, Russ Palmer and his wife, Sandra; his daughter, Amy Palmer; his grandsons, Mitchell Wojtasinski, Dana Wojtasinski, Gary Doucette II, Jack Palmer, Benjamin Palmer; his great granddaughter, Gianna Wojtasinski; his brother, Rueben T. Palmer and his wife, Judy; several nieces and nephews; as well as his three cats, Winston, Bullet and Chessie Rose.

Burial will take place at a later date in Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
