Robert Gilbert Pina Sr.

Robert G Pina Sr 77 of Harwich MA died on Dec 15th at Epoch of Harwich after a long illness. Born in Harwich in 1933 the son of Rufus and Clara Pina, he graduated from Harwich High School and after graduation enlisted in the US Army where he served in the Korean War. He later settled on Cape Cod where he worked as a welder, heavy equipment operator, and truck driver. He was also a member of the National Guard Reserve Unit 126 Aviation Division. Bob had a passion for motorcycles and stock car racing. He raced with the Chatham Dune Buggy Association for many years.

He is survived by his 7 children Robert G Pina Jr and his wife Sheila of Pt St Lucie FL, Karen Johnson and her husband Rudolph of Brooksville FL, James Pina and his wife Guylaine of W Yarmouth, Lorianne Donalson and her husband Tony of Hyannis, Shanua Berry of Charlotte NC, Aaron Pina and his wife Christine of Cummings, GA, and Jeremy Pina and his companion Laverne Lopes of Harwich.

He is also survived by 5 brothers Rufus Pina, Jr. and his wife Betty of Harwich, Frank Pina, Sr. and his wife Beverly of S Yarmouth, John Pina and his wife Julie, Fred Pina and his wife Cindy also of Harwich, and Kenneth Pina, Sr. and his companion Mary Whittermore of Wareham. Also 17 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Bobby was predeceased by his brothers Ralph and Richard Pina and his two sisters Jenny Gomes and Elizabeth Cotell.

Visiting hours are being held from 3:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 19, 2010 at Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 260 Route 28, W. Harwich, MA 02671. A funeral mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 20, 2010 at Holy Trinity Church, 246 Route 28, W. Harwich, MA 02671. Burial immediately following.

In Lieu of flowers the Family would like donations be made in Robert’s name to Life Choice Hospice, 15 Cape Lane, Unit B, Brewster, MA 02631.
