Born on December 16, 1949 in Kansas City, Missouri, Robert entered this world with a spirit that would leave an indelible mark on those around them. From an early age, it was clear that Bob possessed a unique talent and a passion for the arts. His kind heart, infectious laughter, and unwavering determination were evident in everything he did.
Robert was a shining example of compassion and selflessness. He dedicated his life to his work at The Boston Ballet, always extending a helping hand to those in need. Whether it was volunteering at local theaters,or building projects around the house, Robert was always working with his hands, passing this craft and knowledge down to his children. Professionally, Robert Tompkins was a trailblazer, leaving an indelible mark in his field of expertise. His unwavering commitment to excellence and his innovative ideas revolutionized the industry. Robert’s contributions will continue to inspire and shape the Boston Stage Hand Union which he helped build. The Cape Cod Theatre Company was the recipient of his continuing love for the arts after his retirement.
Beyond his professional achievements, Robert was a cherished friend, a devoted parent , and a doting brother.
He is survived by his wife, Christine Michalowski, children Jessica and her husband Kevin Long, Benjamin Tompkins and his fiancée Kim, Henry Tompkins and his fiancée Brittany, and his sister Charlene. Robert was predeceased by his parents James and Anne Tompkins, and his brother Rick Tompkins.
In times of adversity, our dad Bob always remained resilient. He faced life's challenges with courage and grace, never losing sight of what truly mattered. His unwavering faith, coupled with his strong moral compass, served as a guiding light, inspiring others to embrace optimism and persevere in the face of adversity.
