Angelo J. Astuto, adept executive and WWII veteran, died May 9th near Jupiter, FL, three months shy of his 92nd birthday. A native of New York City, he served in the Army Air Force. Moving to South Florida in the 1950s, he was a trusted and sought-after manager & executive for several major companies including Ford, Coca-Cola, and Wometco Enterprises.
He spent his retirement years in North Miami, Hollywood, and finally in Jupiter/Tequesta, enjoying his crossword puzzles and beaming with pride at the accomplishments of his two grandchildren. In May, 2014 he flew his “one last mission” to Washington, D.C. with Honor Flight, which was a highlight of his golden years. Known as a bright and kind gentleman, he touched many lives on his journeys, and has been a constant source of pride and inspiration for his family.
The last surviving member of his immediate family, Angelo is survived by sons Kevin and Keith (Julie), their mother Eloise Owens, grandson Michael (Kevin) and granddaughter Kelly (Keith), as well as many nieces & nephews. A life celebration and remembrance gathering will take place at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 11295 SW 57 Avenue, Pinecrest, FL (Miami-Dade County) Saturday June 11, from 2-5 pm.
