Daniel “Dan” Perry Pitts, 68, lifetime resident of West Palm Beach passed suddenly on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at his home in West Gate. Daniel was born on May 22, 1942 to John (JW) and Jeffie Pitts and was the youngest of 6 children.
Daniel married Gwendolyn DeVore on October 20, 1961 in Columbus, Georgia. He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years and four daughters- Dianne Sanchez, Sheila and John Teal, Stephanie Wiggins, Caroline Pitts and Kenneth Bottone, his seven grandchildren and two great-grandsons, siblings Hazel (Pitts) Zill, Leonard Pitts, Jennifer Pitts as well as nephews, nieces, cousins, in-laws, many friends and beloved pets.
Daniel was a proud disabled Army veteran (1961-1965), community advocate and Director of the West Gate/Belvedere Homes Neighborhood Association.
