

Born October 21, 1933, in Highland Park, Illinois, Donald was the son of Raymond A. and Marie Wilken May. He graduated from Highland Park High School and attended Lake Forest College. In 1957, he married Beatrice Ugolini in Highland Park, beginning a devoted partnership that spanned many years.
Donald proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Following his military service, he built a long and respected career as an electrician. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in Illinois and later owned and operated his own electrical contracting company in South Florida after relocating from Illinois in 1970. In retirement, Donald embraced a new chapter of life as a gentleman farmer at his beloved cabin in Cullowhee, North Carolina.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond A. and Marie Wilken May; his wife, Beatrice Marie Ugolini May; his son, Dale Matthew May; and his brothers, Raymond and Earl May.
He is survived by his sister, Monica May; his daughter, Donna May Kaplan; and his sons, David May (Sharon), Dennis May (Christine), and Daniel May. Donald was a proud grandfather to ten grandchildren: Christopher May (Alexia), Robert May (Afton), Kirstin Kaplan (Bart), Briana Rief (Michael), Caroline Gorman (Tim), Margaret May, Bryan May (Hind), Ana Tatis (Abraham), Nelson May, and Owen May. He also leaves behind thirteen beloved great grandchildren.
Donald will be remembered for his strong work ethic, dedication to family, and the quiet satisfaction he found in a life well lived.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 17, at St. Juliana Catholic Church, 4500 South Dixie Highway, West Palm Beach, Florida. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Royal Palm Cemetery, 5601 Greenwood Avenue, West Palm Beach, Florida. Arrangements are by Royal Palm Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.
