

Dorothy Anne "Dottie" McLaren, 85, of West Palm Beach, FL passed away on October 10, 2014 at the Wellington Regional Medical Center. She was comforted by family during the final moments of her life. Dottie, who had a wide array of cherished friends, was predeceased by her devoted husband, Bill, who passed away in July of 1990.
She is survived by her daughter Donna Becker and husband Dan of Prairie City, OR, sons Patrick of West Palm Beach, Michael and wife Barbara of Lake Worth; grandchildren Logan Anne Becker of Brooklyn, NY and Matthew Mc Becker of Providence, RI. Also surviving are nephew Craig McLaren, nieces Julie Rose and husband, Rich, their daughters Sara Barnard and Ashley Rose, Laurie Perkins and husband Rand, and sons Erik and Jaimie Perkins, as well as numerous extended family.
Born September 29, 1929 in West Palm Beach, Dottie was the only child of Noel and Sara Eakle. Orphaned at the age of three, she was raised by her grandparents Hazel and Louesa Eakle. Dottie received her education at St. Ann's School in West Palm Beach, and also attended high school for two years in Weston, WV. Upon graduation, Dottie went to work as a dental assistant in the Comeau Building on Clematis St. It was there she met her future husband, Bill McLaren. The couple married in 1951, and bought a home on Andrews Road in 1954, where Dottie lived until 2014. Dottie worked at Sears in the Personnel Dept. for over 20 years. Following her retirement from Sears, she was employed by the American Heart Association and later with her aunt Mary McLaren at McLaren's Florist. Dottie leaves behind a loving legacy of kindness, care, empathy and altruism. She always had time to listen to anyone who sought her compassion and wisdom. She was a ray of sunlight illuminating the lives of everyone who was fortunate enough to come in contact with her.
Please join the family at Quattlebaum Funeral Home, 6411 Parker Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL on Tuesday, October 14, 2014, for a rosary at 10:30 a.m. and services at 11:00 a.m., followed by a reception.
