Faye Johns Eissey entered into heaven on January 24, 2017. Born on May 2, 1928 to Ruby and Nolan Johns, Faye was a native of West Palm Beach. She attended Palm Beach High School, Palm Beach Junior College, and earned her Bachelor’s degree in education from Florida State University. In 1949, she married her high school sweetheart, Edward M. Eissey, and for the next 67 years she would be “the love of his life”. They would be blessed with a loving and close-knit family. She was the glue and heart of the Eissey family, a quiet pillar of strength, and beloved for her wonderful Sunday family dinners. Faye is survived by her children Lynn Ciklin (Alan), E. Michael Eissey Jr. (Gail), and Mark (Wendy). She is also survived by her adoring grandchildren Michael Ciklin (Angie), E. Michael Eissey III, Matthew Eissey, and Lauren Eissey, as well as her precious great-grandchildren Avery and Wyatt Ciklin. Faye is also survived by her dear sister Loucille Swaim of Asheboro, North Carolina. Another sister, Louise Ruke, preceded her into heaven.
Throughout her life, Faye was known to all as one who selflessly gave to her community, her friends and her family. A teacher with the Palm Beach School District for ten years, Faye taught at Northmore Elementary School among other schools. She also worked for many years to tutor and test adults wishing to earn their GED. Faye was also an active volunteer, working with Meals on Wheels and befriending many grateful recipients along the way. She also was a caregiver to numerous elderly relatives and friends through the years.
Faye was also a woman of great faith, and devoted to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. A member of Northwood Methodist Church, and then Trinity United Methodist Church, Faye joyfully served as a member of the Choir and the Bell Choir.
A woman of amazing strength and resolve, Faye was a two-time cancer survivor. She inspired those around her with her grace and quiet strength, never complaining and often providing support and comfort to other cancer patients at the same time.
While words will never be able to adequately express our thanks, it is with hearts of gratitude that the Eissey family would like to extend their appreciation to the many physicians who provided such excellent care and compassion to Faye throughout the years. There are too many to mention them all, but the family is grateful to Dr. Hans Bernhoft and Dr. Dan Higgins; in addition, the family is especially indebted to Dr. Jim Harris. The family is also most grateful for Faye’s “angel caregivers” later in life: Annie Reynolds, Audrey Hart, Marcia Dewar, and Barbara Fox.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, 9625 N. Military Trail in Palm Beach Gardens, on Friday, February 3rd at 4:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Faye’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Arrangements under the direction of Quattlebaum Funeral, Cremation & Event Center at Hillcrest, West Palm Beach, FL.
