August 13, 1932 – May 9, 2025
Lake Worth Beach, Florida
Georgina Vera, age 92, of Lake Worth Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on August 13, 1932, in Santa Clara, Cuba, Georgina was a woman of unwavering strength, deep faith, and boundless generosity. She bravely fled communist Cuba with her husband, the late Rogelio Vera, and their three children—Héctor, Connie, and Georgina—seeking freedom and opportunity in Chicago. After the passing of her beloved husband, Georgina carried the responsibility of raising five children—Héctor, Connie, Georgina, Rogelio, and Gina—as a single mother, a role she embraced with grace, courage, and sacrifice.
Georgina worked tirelessly across various jobs as a refugee and eventually became a small business owner, proudly running her own bodega. A passionate advocate for fellow Cubans, she offered shelter and support to many refugees from her hometown of Santa Clara, welcoming them into her home as they pursued their own American Dream.
Her greatest joy was her family. Georgina leaves a legacy of love through her 13 grandchildren—Victoria, Virginia, Angie, Julio, Joseph, Joshua, Lauren, Jesse, Christopher, Daniel, Sophia, Alexa, and Roger—and three great-grandchildren—Ricky, Frances, and Pia. Her legacy lives on in each of them, shaped by her example of perseverance, compassion, and unconditional love.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM at
