Helen was born in Detroit, Michigan to Kosta and Chrysula Johnson on November 2, 1937. She attended McKenzie High School, Class of 1956. Helen married her "beach romance guy" Norman J. Owens, on June 14, 1959 in West Palm Beach at St. Catherine's Greek Orthodox Church. She worked for six years at Annie's Hallmark, but her heart was as a mother and constant support to Norman, her lifelong companion for six decades. Helen and Norman were deeply involved and constantly supported St. Catherine's, always volunteering at its annual Greek Festival. Helen was also a member of the Sisters of Penelope, her Church's women's civic group.
Helen was preceded in death by her adored husband, Norman, and her younger brother, Ken.
Helen is survived by her sons Steven J. Owens, wife Kelly, and step-grandson, Forest, and Carl A. Owens, wife Colleen, granddaughter Brittney, and great-granddaughter Kamryn. Helen's former daughter-in-law, Denise and her adopted granddaughters, Natalie and Nicole, remained close to her. Helen is also survived by her older sister, Ann.
A Celebration of Life Gathering and traditional Greek Orthodox Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 4 at Quattlebaum Funeral Center.
Helen's family sincerely thanks Home Suite Home and Trustbridge Hospice for their support in making her final year comfortable and caring.
