Houston Samuel Fitzgerald, Jr. 91 of West Palm Beach, FL passed away on October 24, 2011. He was a determined man who faced the adversities of a segregated system with a steely resolve to succeed. He lived life on his own terms. Houston was one of seven children born to the union of Houston and Carrie Fitzgerald of Fort Valley, GA. Houston Samuel Fitzgerald, Jr. outlived all of his siblings: Laidler, Sonny, Eddie, Paul, Laura, Laverne, and Minnie. He was preceded in death by his wife and mother of his children, Bertha M. Robinson Fitzgerald. His children, Houston "Sam" Fitzgerald III; David Lee Fitzgerald; and Beatrice "Pennie" Fitzgerald also preceded him in death. He is survived by his grandchildren: David, Jonique, Nia, and Nichele; and their children: William, Nia, Brandon, Jenice, and Taylor.
