John Scott Bohmke

John began his life journey on May 24th, 1974 born in Syosset to John and Sandy Bohmke. He was a proud graduate of Island Trees and lived most of his life in Levittown. He married the love of his life Marisa on April 11th 2003. Together they have 2 wonderful sons, Johnny and Matthew. While John considered his children to be his absolute greatest joy, he was also a proud member of the FDNY with Ladder 140. Prior to retirement, he spent time at Ground Zero and had received awards for bravery throughout his years of service with the FDNY.

John was an avid fisherman and loved spending time both in and on the water with his family. He enjoyed living in Florida allowing him more warm days to spend by the water. John enjoyed working with his hands, making or fixing things, a trait he inherited from his father. He had a love of watches and would always have a few that he was tinkering with. John was not always easy to understand and could be quite stubborn but he loved and protected his family and friends in immeasurable amounts. He will be missed immensely by all those who loved him.

John is preceded in death by his Mother and Father, Sandy and John Bohmke.

John is survived by Marisa, his children Johnny and Matthew and his sister Dawn (Michael) Doscher.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at a future time.

In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
