Nancy Oves Taber, 92, passed away at her home in Royal Palm Beach, Florida, surrounded by the love of her family. She is now with our Lord and her family in heaven. She was born on November 13, 1932, in New York City to Gregory and Mary Oves, who migrated to the United States from Cuba in 1929. She moved to South Florida as a teenager. Nancy was a proud graduate of Gesu High School in Miami and the University of Florida.
Her first real job was at Barry University. Nancy was the first woman in Florida to complete the U.S. Postal Service Management Academy in Potomac, Maryland. She held several positions with the U.S. Postal Service, including serving as a Postmaster. She ended her career as the Director of Finance for the West Palm Beach Southern Region. Nancy received numerous awards over 28 years of honorable service. She also taught finance classes at Palm Beach Junior College.
After retiring and traveling, she worked at Target for 17 years, enjoying the people she met every day. Some of her customers became her closest friends.
Nancy was an avid reader and world traveler, but most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was the “fun” grandmother. She took her grandkids on numerous trips to Disney World, Sea World, Lion Country Safari, New York, Las Vegas, and lots of shopping sprees. She attended every high school and college graduation. She especially enjoyed taking her granddaughter Angelina to get pedicures and manicures, and she loved watching her dance. Her granddaughter once said, “Who needs Santa, I’ve got Grandma.”
She loved eating at her favorite restaurants each week. Her son Kenny lived with her and they considered the servers part of their family. Nancy loved her friends dearly and felt her neighbors were always there for her.
Her greatest love was her family. She will be remembered with love by her surviving children: William (Dagmar) Taber, Corrine (James) Pangle, and Kenneth Taber; her grandchildren: Kyle (Tricia) Parker, Kristopher Parker, and Angelina Taber; and her great-grandchildren: Ryann, Weston, Emory, and Wells Parker. Her oldest son, Richard Taber, preceded her in death in April 2009.
The graveside service will be held at Royal Palm Memorial Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5601 Greenwood Avenue, West Palm Beach, Florida 33407, on August 02,2025 at 3:00 PM. All are welcome to attend.
