

Robert E. McAfee, Sr., Bob to those who knew him, 89 years old of W.P.B, FL was born in Kennesaw, GA and passed away on May 8th, 2014 at Hospice Haven in Chiefland, FL. He dropped out of high school to serve in the Navy in World War II and earned the rank of boatswain a/c. He fought in the Philippine Liberation and the Okinawa Operation, and was in Tokyo Bay at the signing of the Japanese Surrender. He earned countless medals while serving. Bob retired from IBEW Local 323 as a Master Union Electrician and was a member of Palmwood Lodge Masonic Order. He remained very active and dedicated to the Tin Can Sailors, priding himself on attending all but a few nearly all the reunions until he could no longer travel. He is survived by his sister Nancy Johnson (jack), his daughters Bonnie Weber (John Jones), Terrie McAfee (David Henneberry), his son Robbie McAfee (Pam), five grandchildren, Mark Unger (Pam), Leann Davis (Jimmy), Daryl Weber (Katina), Kyle McAfee (Jessica), Kellie McAfee (Bobby Mantell), eleven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was loved by all who knew him and will be deeply missed by those whose lives he touched. He will be in our hearts forever, truly missed and never forgotten. The family will receive friends at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Quattlebaum Funeral, Cremation and Event Center at Hillcrest Memorial Park. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
