My aunt Thelma was my second mother...from the moment of my birth until the day of her leaving to go to her Heavenly home. I have so many memories that keep flooding my mind. Thank you for my weekly allowance that gave me and my sister, the opportunity to attend the  Apollo Theater every Saturday. (The Motown Revue, it was our babysitter while you worked in your beauty shop). Thank you for your wisdom, knowledge and understanding of the Bible that helped me be formed to be the person that I am today. Thank you for the hugs, kisses and telling me how much you love me, laughter together...even until the end of your life. Remember our promise to each other "To  meet each other at the Gate of Heaven...until then"

Aunt Thelma was wonderful, hiring me at her store and sponsoring me to be a debutant at her negro and professional women's association. And then later giving me references for my various jobs.she was a very classy woman. And she taught us that we could be anything we wanted..she had a hard life in the beginning and she became a successful lady... we will miss you. ..you were one of a kind.

Morrice  I.an so sorry for your loss. Through the years  we worked together I developed a sense how much you loved Miss Smith. You share wonderful times with each other that enriched and made your lives better.  I wish I could be there with you in this time of need so I could express my love for you and thank you all you have done for me in my career in Housing. Though Some time we argue like all married couples I never lost respect and appreciated. the impact you had on me. In many ways you made me into a better person. I can't thank you enough. Hope to see you when this pandemic is over. I thank God to had the privilege to had you in my life.  Your friend always. Norman 

My deepest sympathy to Maurice & family. Keeping you in Prayer 🙏🏾 during this time of bereavement. My fondest memory is going fishing 🎣 with Thelma, Maurice & Perry. She was well into her 80’s & I was so amazed at that. I prayed Lord please Bless me to be able to live a long life & enjoy it the way she did that day. The last time I saw Thelma I had stopped by to give  her & Maurice some King fish 🐠 I caught.  S.I.P.  Thelma

I was wearing Wonder Women bras & I went to visit Aunt Thelma at her shop & she told either my mom or Aunt Barbara that I need a better bra. Then I tried on a couple & she gave me 2 white pointy bras...lol

I will miss Aunt Thelma’s smile, her tenacity, and her deep love for her family.  Fond memories of my time at her shop on Amsterdam Avenue in New York!
