July 13, 1932 - November 1, 2025
Alma grew up in Brida, Northern Italy. As a young girl, Alma knew Luigi Dreszach and had decided before they even held hands that this young man was going to be her lifelong companion.
Luigi left Italy as a 29-year-old to make a better life for himself in Canada. He proposed after arrival in Vancouver, and they arranged to be married by proxy, an example of their strong Catholic values. Luigi attended a service in Vancouver, Canada, and Alma in Liessa, Italy, on September 5, 1954. Alma joined him three months later, arriving in Canada in January of 1955.
Alma and Luigi had three daughters: Elaine, Diane, and Marina. Alma watched her daughters grow and begin their own lives. She supported them in every way possible and embraced her three sons-in-law - Ross, David, and Hugh, who came into her life. They were her famiglia, and famiglia was her first priority above all else.
Alma was very proud of her grandchildren and was an adoring Nonna to Tony (Sofie), Brian, Luke, and Siena. They all returned that love and deep connection to a very special person in their young lives. They would contact Nonna on a regular basis for advice and tips on how to recreate her delicious recipes.
Alma will be profoundly missed by her daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren, best friend Natalina Jeram, and all who knew her.
