Born in Montreal, Quebec, Dawne was the daughter of Donald and Miriam Armstrong. She grew up in St. Lambert, attending local schools before beginning her career at the Canadian National Railway in Montreal.
Dawne’s life journey took her west to Calgary, where she married Ronald Glenn Denney and had a daughter, Janice Nadine. After her divorce, she later married the love of her life, William (Bill) Turecki in 1981. Together, they lived in West Vancouver, White Rock, and Delta, where Bill founded Dominion Steel. He passed in 2003 after a courageous battle with blood cancer.
Known for her warmth, grace, and sense of style, Dawne had a lifelong passion for home décor, opera, and Elvis Presley. She was a lover of travel, a gifted hostess and a devoted pet parent—especially to her cherished cats Chico, Abigail, Fancy, and Smokey. Chico lived an impressive 20 years.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Janice (Michael David), granddaughter Michelle and extended family, including her brothers Robin, Gary, and Neil, and their families. She was predeceased by her beloved grandson Lukas.
Dawne lived a full and adventurous life, traveling extensively with Bill across Europe, Asia, South America, the U.S. and especially Hawaii. She embraced life with spirit and elegance and will be dearly missed by all who knew her, and especially by her daughter Janice.
