The Percy family is devastated at the sudden
death of Don Percy - the biggest, strongest limb in
the family tree.
A modern ‘Bull of the Woods’, third-generation in
the coastal logging industry, Don was the principal
of the Percy Logging group of companies. He was
a leader of men: courageous, calm and fair. He
inspired loyalty and admiration in many.
To his extended family he was the ‘Gentle Giant’: a
listener and advisor, a great conversationalist,
perceptive, funny and direct. His sharp intellect and
often quirky point-of-view, his beautiful smile, and a
pat on the back were given to us freely. And
always he cared, and was there.
For the last decade he cared particularly for our father
George-now 100 years old-with amazing dedication.
Always with his light touch and gentle strength.
To his own family Don was a loving and steadfast
husband, father and grandpa. He and Elizabeth
have created a close and loving family, to which he
brought his personal ethics and integrity, his selfeffacing
‘bigness,’ and always his kind heart. As the
family grew with spouses and babies, so did his
happiness. He was a man at peace with his life, a
man who lived as he wanted to live, and did right
as he saw fit. He has lifted us all with his example.
Don is survived by his wife Elizabeth, two children and
five grandchildren (who of course adore Grandpa.) Also
by father George, brother George (Maria), sister Hilary
(Rodger), and nieces and nephews who thought he
was just the best.
No service by his request. In lieu of flowers,
donations may be offered to the Lions Gate
Hospital Foundation.
