Enid Carter passed away peacefully October 9th 2015 at Evergreen House, North Vancouver. Many thanks to their kind and caring staff.
Enid was born February 25th 1931 in Prince Rupert, the daughter of Otto and Ione Young and older sister to Don (Connie). After moving to Vancouver in 1942, she obtained her Bachelor's Degree from the University of British Columbia. Enid is survived by her spouse of 61 years, Bruce Carter. They raised their four daughters Deirdre, Denise (Doug), Valerie (Kris) and Dawn (Kevin) in the family home they built in Horseshoe Bay.
As a long term member in the PEO sisterhood, she held many officer positions including Provincial President. Enid was an avid sailor and enjoyed the family sailboats on summer vacations visiting much of the Inside Passage. She skippered in many regattas while being a member of the Tiddly Cove Yacht Club. Time ashore included raising an extensive orchid collection as a member of the Vancouver Orchid Society. An accomplished homemaker, Enid always put family first. She enjoyed sewing and knitting outfits for her daughters and 6 grandchildren (Alisha, Kaitlynn, Trevor, Scott, Jenna and Jamie), and hosting large family dinners with Christmas being a family favourite.
