(James) Grant Hammond passed away at the age of 81 on January 11, 2016.

brother-in-law, Frank (Lisa) Affettuso, and as well numerous nieces, nephews, friends, relatives and colleagues. He was predeceased by his brother Neil (Ellen) Hammond.
Grant was born, lived, and died in Vancouver. As a young man from humble beginnings, he was an altar boy, enjoyed baseball and worked his first job at age 15 in a logging camp. He started his career in accounting at Collins & Collins, and moved on to AP Gardner in 1959. He joined Touche Ross in 1981 and was a regional partner with the merger of Deloittes Touche in 1990. At the time of his retirement in 1997 Grant was a Senior Partner Firm Leader with Deloittes.
He was a member of the board at Lions Gate Hospital, St. Paul’s Hospital, The Canadian Club, and the West Vancouver Library. Grant was called upon to work with EXPO 86, and other special projects, during his long and distinguished career.
After retirement in 1997, and up until a few months ago, he continued as an advisor to a favourite account, the H. Y. Louie Company. Grant had many interests including economics, politics, sports, reading, and golf at Marine Drive with his friends. He was a great mentor inside and outside of work and always took the time to help his others. Joan and Grant have resided happily in West Vancouver for most of their lives and through his work they have enjoyed travel to many exotic destinations.
The funeral service will be held at St. Anthony’s Parish on Thursday, January 21st at 11:00 am, 2347 Inglewood Ave, West Vancouver. There is a reception following the service within a few blocks of the Parish.
Joan would like to express her sincere and heartfelt thanks to all you folks who touched Grant’s life for your outpouring of love and support at this difficult time. If friends so desire donations may be made in Grant’s name to St. Paul’s Hospital, Renal Care. A special thankyou to Dr. Paul Taylor for his exceptional care.
Grant, you will be missed. Rest in Peace
