Jone Hognestad

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jone Line Hognestad. Born February 12th 1955 in Bryne, Norway. He unexpectedly was taken from us on October 8th 2022 on BC’s Sunshine Coast. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Arnhild Hognestad, their three children, two son-in-laws: Karoline Marcher (Ryan Marcher), Nils Johan Hognestad (Jeremy Irla), Jo Ivar Hognestad (Ana Maria Rodriguez-Velasquez), and grandson, Jon Ivar Marcher. He leaves behind: seven siblings, seven sisters in law, ten brothers in law, numerous nieces & nephews and joins his two sisters and two brothers in law.

Jone was an intrinsic part of the shipping community both in Vancouver and internationally for nearly forty years and left a legendary mark on the shipping industry. He was a loyal, hard worker with a deep love of good music, good food, good company, woodworking and hobby farming. He was dedicated to his extremely large and loving family and was proud of all of them.

Funeral service will be held at the Danish Lutheran Church in Burnaby at 1300h on October 20th 2022. Everyone who knew Jone is welcome to join. In lieu of flowers, donations to Pender Harbour Ocean Discovery Station (PODS) would be cherished.
