March 23, 1925 - June 5, 2011
Born in Middlesex County, Caradoc Township Ontario, to Gertrude and Arthur Fisher. Maxine was the eldest of 4 sisters; Dorothy, Patricia, Phyllis and younger brother Wayne.
In her younger years things were hard on the farm with the depression, so Maxine would dig potatoes with her father. I guess that's where she sharpened her determination. It was not all work; there was also play with a cooling dip at the local swimming hole where she later picnicked with James Calvin Wilton. On September 15, 1945 the two married and went on to raise a family of 4 sons; Roger, Larry, Mark and Keith. She was a loving mother, with no selfishness, always giving to her family.
After living in Chatham, Port Hope and finally Cooksville Ontario the two relocated to the west coast of Vancouver British Columbia in the early 1960's. First to Burnaby then settled and bought a house in West Vancouver. This is where they called home, for Maxine 47 years. Together they had a 5th son Daryl in 1965 and carried on with life until the tragic death of James in 1972. Being strong and moving on with life she cared for her sons and grandchildren as an excellent mother and grandmother.
After many good years Maxine was struck by another tragedy with the sudden death of her eldest son Roger on December 15 1997.
In her later years Maxine was lucky enough to meet George Lee, the 2 shared many special trips together from small lunches and drives to La Connor for her favorite tulip festival to travelling the world. Maxine lived a well-rounded and happy life.
Maxine passed away peacefully in North Vancouver. She is survived by all of her siblings (Dorothy, Patricia, Phyllis and Wayne), George, her loving sons; Larry, Mark, Keith and Daryl, her 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
There will be no service as per Maxine's request. The family asks that a donation be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.
A very special thank you to Maxine's wonderful caregivers Leonora and Luisita for their solid dedication and love for our mother. For those wishing to share a memory of Maxine, please go to www.hollyburnfunerals.com
