It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our Mom and "Nana" on the early morning of Sunday, April 28, at age 92. In 1953 she married her beloved Raymond. They moved from Egypt to Brazil and eventually to Canada. They enjoyed adventures, tackled difficulties, supported and loved each other, raising their two girls during 60 years of marriage. "Nana" learned new languages, embraced changes, surpassing life's challenges. She had fortitude, determination and strength of spirit.
Family meant everything to "Nana"; ensuring her home was filled with love. She was a talented cook who loved entertaining, a competitive card player, and you quickly learned not to call her during daily Mass, Wheel of Fortune or Jeopardy. She had immense pride in the accomplishments of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, who she adored. "Nana" had a strong faith in God, was a member of the Catholic Women’s League (CWL) and volunteered in many capacities for the church over the years.
She is survived by her two daughters: Monique and Micheline, four grandchildren: Chantal (Bryan), Chelsea (Marvin), Marisa (Victor), Maddison (Daphne) and three great grandchildren, Marley, Easton and Elin. "Nana" was predeceased by her loving husband, and sisters, Huguette and Sonia.
"Nana" was blessed to have many close friends over her lifetime. These beautiful relationships sustained her during life’s difficult moments and filled her with laughter and love, especially this past year. The phone calls, visits, and words of support brightened her day and were a tremendous source of joy, peace and comfort.
Special thanks to Dr. Purewal, to Lions Gate Hospital and the caring, compassionate staff at North Shore Hospice. You allowed "Nana" to maintain her dignity – you went above and beyond.
A Mass will be held at St. Anthony's Parish 2347 Inglewood Ave, West Vancouver, BC, on Monday, May 13th at 11:AM
In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or Lions Gate Hospital Foundation (Hospice and Palliate Project).
