DELESALLE, Patricia Joan (nee: Hickey)
March 29, 1960 – June 3, 2011
It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother, daughter, sister, twin sister, and friend, Patty Delesalle.
Patty is predeceased by her father, Allan Hickey, and her beautiful daughter, Murphy (d. August 24, 2010), but survived by her loving son, Coady, daughter, Katie, and husband Pat. She is also survived by her mother, Betty Joan Hickey, sister, Carole Hickey, and twin sister Ann Hickey, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Patty was born in Kelowna, but spent most of her life in Vancouver, the last 15 years in West Vancouver. She grew up in Burnaby, graduating from Burnaby Central High School and then went on to complete a degree in Economics at Simon Fraser University.
Patty loved fishing, and spent many memorable hours on the waters of the Queen Charlotte’s in search of the big one. She was an avid water skier and enjoyed many years at Woods Lake swimming and skiing with her children – but no cliff diving!
Patty was a true friend, both generous and loyal. Her smile was quick and arresting, and would light up every room she walked into. She delighted in spending time with her family and made everyone welcome in her home. Patty took great pleasure in her garden and “the peace among the flowers”. She had a huge heart and a quirky sense of humor. Patty truly lived life to the fullest and will be missed beyond belief by all those who knew and loved her. Broadie and Bug (aka Dusty) wait patiently by the door.
We can take comfort that she is walking hand and hand with her angel Murphy. . . . .
A mass of Christian burial celebrating Patty’s life will be held at Christ the Redeemer Church, 599 Keith Rd., West Vancouver on Saturday, June 11th at 12:30 pm
Thank you to all of Patty’s friends including Mary Clare, Diane, and Lorraine…..and especially dear friend Lisa, for your support and love. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Patty’s memory can be made to the Murphy Delesalle Fund at any Van City branch, Account 23739, branch No 49. All funds will be donated to the Murphy Delesalle Memorial Award at Collingwood School.
