Earl was originally from Lake Charles and spent the majority of his life as a resident of Westlake. He worked for the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury until retirement. Outside of work, Earl was deeply involved with his children and grandchildren, whom he cherished. He loved spending time camping, with his dog Jack, and riding motorcycles with his devoted wife. Earl was an avid ham radio operator and CBer, going by the handle "Hound Dog".
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Felicia McFarlain and husband Byron and Bill Bodin and wife Lana; five grandchildren, Haley McDaniel, Kyle Bodin, Candace Bodin, Kristie Bodin, and Cami Bodin; and three great grandchildren, Nevaeh McDaniel, Addison Bodin and Wyatt McDaniel.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife of 54 years, Darnell Bodin; and brother, Wayne Trouard.
The family will welcome relatives and friends at Hixson Funeral Home of Westlake on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 beginning at 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Thursday, March 6, 2025 beginning at 12:00 p.m. until the procession leaves for the church at 1:45 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John Bosco Catholic Church at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens.
