Ernestine Gunn Compton

She was very active in bowling, where she was a certified instructor, a member of USBC for men and women; past Association Secretary and past President of the Lake Charles Women’s Bowling Association; a member of the 600 Club and Lake Charles Association Hall of Fame for services to the sport. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.

She is survived by her son, James A. Compton and wife DeNessel of Elysian Fields, TX; daughters, Evelyn Priscilla Freyou and husband Daryl of Baton Rouge; Lynn Caruana and husband Bill of Cypress, TX; sisters, Evelyn Gunn and Kathy Franklin and husband Gene; six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; very special friends, Derwin and Penny Ward of Westlake. She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, James E. Compton; parents, Ernest and Celita Gunn; brother, Odis Gunn and grandson, Stephen Freyou.

She will be escorted proudly by her grandsons: Brock, Sean, Jamey, Mathew, Taylor and Aaron.

Her service will be 10:00am, Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Hixson Funeral Home of Westlake. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00pm until 8:00pm and resume Thursday from 8:00am until time of service.
