James Allen "Whit" Whitmire

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 60 years, Rosemary Halley Whitmire; daughter, Cynthia "Cyndi" Whitmire LeJeune and husband, Mark; daughter, Anita "Jodi" Whitmire; four grandchildren, John Michael Powers and wife, Tram Ta, Mandy Hayzlett and husband, Trevor, Emily Rose Degeyter and husband, Cody, and Marley Elizabeth McBride and husband, Jordan; nine great-grandchildren, Todd and Claire Powers, Denae, Lexi, Kayden, and Morgan Hayzlett, and Makenzie, Kayden, and Payton Degeyter.

He was preceded in death by father, Fletcher Whitmire, mother, Alice B. McLellan, sisters, Peggy D. Abshire, and Jackie M. Beck, nephew, Matthew T. Garrettson, and great-granddaughter, Chloe Lane Powers.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hixson Funeral Chapel in Westlake. Timothy Harrison will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 - 9 p.m. Monday and will resume at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonwestlake.com
